Bastrop Power & Light

CASA of Bastrop receives emergency operating support!

The Meadows Foundation of Dallas Texas has generously provided CASA a grant of $27,000 to help our program bridge the gap in funding due to the Central Texas wildfires and loss of income from postponing our major fundraising event for 9 months.

Since its inception, The Meadows Foundation has disbursed in excess of $750 million in grants and direct charitable expenditures to over 3,000 Texas institutions and agencies. Grants have been awarded both in large urban areas and small rural communities and in every Texas county. The Foundation looks for programs and services that employ imaginative, innovative ways to solve community problems through projects leading to organization self-sufficiency and in capital plans that enable agencies to flourish.

The Meadows Foundation is among the most recognized private philanthropies in the country, both for its grantmaking practices and for its active engagement in advancing the field of private philanthropy. For additional information, visit The Meadows Foundation at http://www.mfi.org/

CASA appreciates the support of The Meadows Foundation and relies on the generosity of donors to fulfill our mission of representing the best interest of child victims of abuse and neglect.

The foster care system can be scary and chaotic for a child. A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)® is often the one caring adult who remains consistent with a child as he or she journeys through the child protective system. Become a CASA volunteer. Make a difference in a child's life. And your own.

It is the mission of CASA of Bastrop County to provide a trained community volunteer for every abused and neglected child in our court system. The volunteer speaks for the right of each child to have a safe, permanent, loving home. We educate the community on child abuse and neglect, emphasizing the importance of nurturing, healthy families.

CASA volunteers are everyday citizens judges appoint to advocate for the safety and well-being of children who have been removed from their homes due to parental abuse and neglect. They stand up for these children and change their lives.

Nationwide CASA volunteers have helped more than two million children find safe, permanent homes.
